Nannies

I should probably explain the title of my blog/my child's nickname. Before we knew we were having a girl, we needed something to call our child besides "it". We called her Nans. Nans is short for Nannies, which is short for Nanners, which is short for Bananaouise. This came about while we were watching an episode of America's Next Top Model. There was a girl on the show whose name was Spontanuoise. This prompted a lengthy discussion between Matt and I about how people now make up words and then give their children those made-up words as a name. Apparently you can add "_ouise" to any word and turn it into a name. The first word that came to mind was "banana." So there you have it-Bananaouise, also known as Elliot- but only to other people. She's still our little Nannie Buckets.

And just to prepare you for it now, if we have another one I fully intend to nickname it Squeegee Beckenheim.
